Using Single Sign-On (SSO)

Single Sign-On (SSO) lets your staff log in to findhelp using the same username and password they already use for another system at your organization. This creates a smooth and easy login experience for your team.

With SSO, your staff's accounts are automatically created the very first time they log in. You can also pass along their team role so they are automatically added to the correct team with the right permissions. This means staff can use the same credentials to access your Social Care Network as they do for their other work systems, saving them time and reducing the number of passwords they have to remember.

🏆 Findhelp recommend this functionality for all customers.

How Single Sign-On (SSO) Works

Findhelp uses a standard called SAML SSO to securely log your staff into the platform. This process ensures user information comes from a single, trusted source—your organization's system.

Here's how it works:

  1. Redirection: When a user goes to your findhelp site, they are automatically sent to your organization's system to verify their identity.

  2. Authentication: If they're not already logged in, they'll be asked to sign in using their work credentials.

  3. Automatic Account Creation: Once authenticated, they're sent back to your findhelp site and automatically signed in. The first time this happens, our system automatically creates their user account in a process called "just-in-time provisioning." For returning visitors, they are automatically logged in if their security information is already saved in their browser.

When an account is created this way, we automatically retrieve the following information from your system:

  • First and Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Title
  • Department
  • Group ID (Role)*

* Automatically Assigning Team Roles

We highly recommend assigning a team-based role through the group attribute in your system. This automatically places users in the correct team with the right permissions as soon as they log in.

This approach offers two key benefits:

  • Efficient Setup: It streamlines the process of adding new staff, ensuring they have the correct sharing access from day one.

  • Better Reporting: It allows you to see user adoption and performance metrics by role, giving you a clearer picture of how each team is using the platform.

Multiple SSO Configuration

You may have multiple SAML-based SSOs enabled on one site. In these cases, the SSO URL will provide a landing page with the various SSO options. From here, the user will need to choose which SSO to use to log in.
